Bele Chere Warning

This Friday through Sunday, July 27 to 29, Asheville will hold a popular street festival called Bele Chere. Each year, a huge section of downtown Asheville is closed. Booths line the streets. Vendors sell food, crafts, and all sorts of things. Stages are set up around town so you can listen to music from various artists.

If you are thinking about attending the festival, be warned: leave your furry friend at home. Dogs are not allowed into the festival. You really should not bring them even if you could. The temperatures are always hot, making the pavement unbearable for sensitive paws. Food and other trash litter the streets and would end up in your buddy’s belly.

Drink plenty of water if you want to attend. Let your buddy relax at home.

Re-Tail Store Grand Opening & 3rd Anniversary Celebration

Tomorrow is a big day for Brother Wolf. It is the third anniversary of the adoption center’s opening. The group has been around longer; they did not always have an official shelter.

It is also the grand opening of their new Re-Tail Store. The store is located across the street from the shelter. If you are familiar with the area, it is in the building where the previous tenant had all those nasty “keep the pets away” signs. Karma.

The party is from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. You can tour the shelter and enjoy free refreshments and nail trims (for your buddy, not you). At the Second Chances Thrift Store (just up the street), select items will be 30 percent off.

Proceeds from the new Re-Tail Store and the Second Chances Thrift Store provide much-needed funds to Brother Wolf. Remember, Brother Wolf does not receive any government assistance. They rely on community support and funds from ventures like these.

You can learn more about the grooming services they will offer at the Store. In fact, you might want to take a peek. Visit the shelter’s website at bwar.org and click on the Re-Tail Store and Grooming page. The prices are very reasonable. You must call for an appointment, though. The groomer only comes to the store when she has appointments.

If you are looking for something to do Saturday afternoon, drop by the shelter complex. The hard-working staff at BWAR has made some great improvements to the shelter. The new store is really nice.

Hope to see you there on Saturday!
